'This is getting comical' - These Newcastle fans react to link with 11-time international

According to Football Oranje, Newcastle United are preparing to rival Arsenal for the signature of Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico during the January transfer window.

Tagliafico – a 11-time Argentina international – joined Ajax from Independiente in January, and has made 31 appearances for the Dutch club in all competitions.

The 26-year-old’s form has led to suggestions that Arsenal want to sign him, as recently reported by Calciomercato.

It is understood that Newcastle wanted to sign the defender during the summer, but were unable to agree terms with Ajax.

The Magpies are again being linked with a move for the full-back, although it would be fair to say that the club’s supporters are just not buying the transfer report.

It has been a tough start to the season for Newcastle, and the club’s fans do not exactly have a lot of faith in the ownership when it comes to getting deals over the line.
