‘Start him over Britt’ - These Middlesbrough fans urge Pulis to make big attacking change
Ashley Fletcher is receiving a lot of praise from Middlesbrough fans after scoring a deliciously executed finish against Newcastle’s Under 23s last week.
The 23-year-old came through the youth system at Manchester United but failed to make the grade at Old Trafford and joined West Ham for a year.
His time in east London impressed the north-east club enough to spend £6.5m in the summer of 2017 to bring the prospect to the Riverside Stadium, but the 6ft 1in striker could not break into the first team and spent the second half of the season on loan at Sunderland.
Since returning from the Stadium of Light, where he regularly started Championship games, Tony Pulis has only called on the forward’s services four times in the league, with each of those coming as a substitute and at an average of less than 10 minutes on the pitch.
The Carabao Cup, meanwhile, has been the striker’s place to show his worth so far with three 90-minute games resulting in three goals, yet ahead of this week’s clash with Premier League side Crystal Palace these Boro fans think the cup is not enough anymore.
This is great but he should be in the first team playing every week ??♂️

Just watched all 3 goals, very cool and composed. Good to see him looking more confident. Looking forward to seeing him bang a couple in against palace and force his way into the first team
