Aston Villa will have their target man for years to come if Smith secures January deal - agree?
Former Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce pulled off something of a coup when he secured a season-long loan deal for Tammy Abraham on deadline day of the summer transfer window, but new manager Dean Smith could make a huge statement by signing the 21-year-old permanently in January.
It is quite clear that all of Chelsea’s huge loan crop are for sale if a club stumps up the right fee, and many have gone on to be top players after making permanent moves away. After a turbulent summer it would now also seem that Villa’s new owners are ready to pump money into the squad in order to achieve the promotion that was so close last season.
Abraham, who is valued at £9m by Transfermarkt, has already netted four times in nine Championship games for the Villans, and while on loan in the division with Bristol City for the 2016/17 season he bagged an extremely impressive 23 league goals.
Signing the England international would be a real sign that Smith is serious about achieving promotion as soon as possible with his boyhood club, and Abraham could become their target man for years to come.
So, Villa fans, would you like to see Smith sign Abraham on a permanent deal or would the money be better spent elsewhere? Have your say by voting in the poll below.
