He's won us over: 67% of Chelsea fans polled say Conte flop must start ahead of Sarri addition
Having strength in depth is key to any club fighting for the Premier League title, and Chelsea certainly have it in abundance in midfield.
Maurizio Sarri’s side remain unbeaten in the top flight, but in order to cope with a busy season the manager will have to rotate his team.
At the weekend against Burnley, Ross Barkley was given the nod to start and he impressed by scoring and creating two assists.
Mateo Kovacic was left on the bench for the 4-0 triumph at Turf Moor, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek got some game time, as well as a goal.
The trio are all vying for a place in Sarri’s midfield, which gives the manager plenty to think about ahead of future fixtures.
Kovacic only joined the Chelsea fold in the summer as he agreed a season-long loan move from Real Madrid.
Barkley signed for the Blues in January and had to settle for a bit-part role under former boss Antonio Conte, while Loftus-Cheek has been jostling for a first-team spot ever since he graduated from the academy in 2014.
Recently, we asked you who should be at the top of the pecking order out of the trio, and interestingly Barkley has come out on top.
The majority of fans polled believe that Kovacic should be second-choice behind the England international.
