Jose Mourinho to Real Madrid

According to rumours coming out of Italy on Tuesday morning, Jose Mourinho may be on his way back to Real Madrid.

That story is being peddled by leading Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

Mourinho, of course, has previously been Real Madrid’s manager.

The Special One was in charge of Los Blancos from 2010 to 2013.

During his time in Madrid, Mourinho lead Real to a Copa del Rey and La Liga title.

Mourinho left Madrid by ‘mutual consent’ despite having three years remaining on his contract.

Santiago Solari now, Mourinho later

Following the 5-1 thumping at Barcelona in El Clasico, Real Madrid have sacked manager Julen Lopetegui.

Lopetegui was only in charge of Real Madrid for 14 matches.

Antonio Conte had been tipped by many to be Real’s next manager. But on Monday night many reported that Conte had rejected Real’s offer.

Santiago Solari, who has also been talked about a potential new Real Madrid manager, has been put in temporary charge of the team.

Solari was in charge of Real Madrid’s B-team.

However Gazzetta claim that Solari’s appointment could merely be a place-holder for Mourinho.

Mourinho, who is under contract at Man United until 2020, is being tipped to leave Old Trafford to return to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer.

Gazzetta go on to claim that former Chelsea manager Conte could replace Mourinho at Man United.

Indeed, it’s being reported that Conte knew that Florentino Perez wants Mourinho, which is why Conte has rejected an approach from Madrid.
