'Dust the Monopoly money off' - Lots of Newcastle fans react to link with 6ft 3in powerhouse
According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle United have identified Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller as their number one January transfer target.
Haller, 24, is a 6ft 3in centre-forward who currently plays his football in the Bundesliga.
A former France Under-21 international, Haller started his career with Auxerre, and also represented FC Utrecht ahead of a move to Frankfurt in the summer of 2017.
Haller has managed 20 goals in 50 appearances for his German club, including six in nine Bundesliga matches at the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has already discussed January plans with owner Mike Ashley, and a move for Haller could occur.
However, it would be fair to say that the Newcastle supporters are just not buying it.
Indeed, instead of getting excited over what would be a really good signing, the club’s fans have simply insisted that their team have absolutely no chance of doing the deal.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Newcastle supporters can be seen below:
