Short video shows Klopp's gift for man-management in full effect

Hugging is the name of the game for man-management apex Jurgen Klopp, whose warm embracing methods have earned him an unrivalled reputation amongst the footballing world.

October marked four years since the German took the reins from former boss Brendan Rodgers. In that time, he’s revolutionised Liverpool’s squad by signing key players like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, turned the Reds into one of the best sides in the world, won the Champions League and dished out more hugs than a Disney Princess at Magic Kingdom during school holidays.

Speaking about Klopp’s management style, van Dijk told the Mirror back in January: “There is something about Klopp that makes him stand out. It’s not just his energy, I think it’s his man management.

“Klopp makes you feel great. He is genuinely pleased to see you in the morning and that has a big effect on the players who come in.

“Just look at the hugs he gives us all at the end of games. It is only a bit of affection, something very small, but it makes you feel great.”

With Joel Matip out for the foreseeable future, Klopp’s management skills will again be put the test as he tries to massage self-proclaimed ‘one of the best in the world‘ Dejan Lovren into his title-chasing squad.

Demonstrating how he manages to squeeze every ounce out of his players, Klopp was recorded giving Lovren one of his famous hugs after the Tottenham game…

Liverpool will be hoping to breeze past a struggling Arsenal side, who are currently facing captain problems and poor form, when they meet Wednesday evening in the next round of the League Cup.
