Everton in talks with Chelsea over Kurt Zouma

As confirmed by Times reporter paul Joyce on Thursday, Everton are still in the race to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.

Readers are told the following:

Contact with Chelsea over signing Kurt Zouma again following the success of last season’s loan deal continues, albeit with little indication, as yet, that they would be willing to sanction the France international’s departure at a time when they are constrained by a transfer ban.

That fact that Chelsea seem to still be talking to Everton gives hope the Zouma deal may yet happen.

However, Paul Joyce failed to note recent quotes from Zouma which revealed his plans to stay at Stamford Bridge this season. Zouma said:

I enjoyed my time at Everton but I’m a Chelsea player and we’ll see what will happens in the future. I think it will be here at Chelsea.

This is a chance for me. I went out on loan last season but I’m a Chelsea player and I want to do well to get my chance and be here.

Christian Pulisic scores twice for the Blues

On Wednesday, Chelsea beat Salzburg 5-3 in a pre-season friendly.

US international Christian Pulisic scored his first two goals for Chelsea against the Austrians.

Pulisic’s first came after a brilliant ball over the top from Ross Barkley.

However, Pedro stole the headline with an incredible goal in the match.

The Spaniard scored with an outrageous backheel flick.

Elsewhere, Ross Barkley scored a penalty while Michy Batshuayi scored a late fifth for Chlesea.
