"Ballon d'Or incoming" - Plenty of Villa fans gush over one moment of eye-catching brilliance

Lots of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after John McGinn scored a quite wonderful solo goal in the friendly win over Charlton, in which the Villans ran out 4-1 winners.

Goals from Andre Green, Anwar El Ghazi and a double for McGinn saw Dean Smith’s side swat Lee Bowyer’s men aside with ease, but it was the Scotland international McGinn who grabbed the headlines in particular.

You won’t believe which of Liverpool’s Champions League winning side of 2005 is still playing in the video below…

Not satisfied with his earlier strike, the 24-year-old doubled his tally with a brilliant solo effort. McGinn harried the Addicks’ backline and managed to win the ball in the final third, before bursting into the area and riding a heavy tackle to stay on his feet.

The Scot then rolled the ball past the keeper before slamming into an unguarded net – it was a strike good enough to sum up just what the tenacious midfielder is about.

One supporter below thinks the PFA Player of the Year award and the Ballon d’Or will be McGinn’s soon, whilst another fan seems to think the former Hibernian man is worth more than money.

Let’s take a look at the best responses to the 5 foot 8 ace’s goal…
