‘Neymar out for 6-8 weeks’

On Tuesday night, speaking to ESPN Brasil, Neymar’s father confirmed the bad news.

The dad of world football’s most expensive footballer confirmed news which broke earlier in the day about how long Neymar will be out for.

Neymar senior has plainly stated that Neymar is out of the Real Madrid, Champions League match. He said PSG know they “will not be able to count” on his son. He also laid out the injury timetable for Neymar:

His treatment will last six to eight weeks, whether there is an operation or not.

PSG take on Real Madrid in Paris on Tuesday night.

Los Blancos won their UCL last-16 first-leg 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

PSG’s Unai Emery looks silly

The update from Neymar’s dad is another blow to PSG manager Unai Emery.

It’s been an open secret for months that Emery is set to be shoved out the PSG exit door this summer.

But the way in which the Neymar injury news has been revealed shows that Emery is already on the outside at Paris.

To recap, on Tuesday afternoon the likes of Globo Esporte announced Neymar’s two month injury lay-off and possible operation.

Emery then rejected those claims at his PSG presser on Tuesday. He told the French press:

Neymar is not going to be operated on, that’s not true. I talked to the doctors and we’re still to make a decision. 

We’ll see the passing of the next few days to make a decision. This is a moment of calm.

There is a small chance for Neymar to be able to play against Real Madrid – we have to be patient.

Following Neymar’s dad update, Emery’s comments now appear way off the mark.
