Bad for Arsenal & Chelsea: Pep Guardiola’s double injury boost

Man City: First Arsenal, then Chelsea

The big games keep coming for Man City.

Last weekend Pep Guardiola won his first trophy with the Sky Blues.

Goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva killed off Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final.

As the scheduling gods would have it, Man City take on Arsenal again on Thursday.

This time in Premier League action at the Emirates Stadium, will the Gunners exert revenge on the Sky Blues? Or will Guardiola’s charges inflict another defeat on Arsene Wenger’s side?

Following the Arsenal game, Man City take on Chelsea on Sunday in the league.

Fernandinho & Raheem Sterling

On Wednesday, ahead of the Arsenal and Chelsea games, Man City fans have received an injury report update on Fernandinho and Raheem Sterling.

Fernandinho was forced out the Carabao Cup final with an injury, and fears were high the Brazilian could be out for weeks.

As for Raheem Sterling, a hamstring injury forced him to miss the cup final.

But, according to Paul Hirst in the Times, both Fernandinho and Sterling should be back in action very soon:

Guardiola will be without Fernandinho (against Arsenal) after the Brazilian suffered a hamstring strain at Wembley.

The good news for both player and manager is that scans have shown that the injury is not serious and the 32-year-old midfielder, who has played a crucial role in City’s success this season, could return for Sunday’s home match against Chelsea.

Raheem Sterling missed the Carabao Cup final win because of a hamstring injury, but the winger has returned to training and may feature tomorrow night.

Sterling has been one of Man City’s best players this season. He’s scored 20 goals for the Sky Blues this season.
