Ridiculous: Spurs legend's disgust at Liverpool fans' actions only reveals his bias - opinion

Tottenham legend Graham Roberts has slammed the Liverpool supporters for their overconfidence ahead of the Champions League final between the Reds and Spurs in Madrid – the first final in the competition to feature two English clubs since 2008.

Roberts, who made over 200 appearances for the north London-based side, also issued a rallying cry to his former side and demanded that they show the Merseysiders what they are made of.

What one weakness can Spurs exploit against Liverpool in the UCL final? Fans discuss in the video below…

What did he say?

Roberts tweeted: “You have to laugh at the Liverpool supporters at the airport on Sky Sports News think they won the cup already arrogance at its best, think it be closer than you think, COYS LETS SHOW THEM HOW GOOD WE ARE.”

What does he want them to do?

Is he serious?

What does Roberts expect the travelling Liverpool supporters to do?

Travelling to a Champions League final is an extremely exciting opportunity that some fans may only be able to do once in their lifetimes, so they have every right to be excited.

Does Roberts want them to lay cowering in the corner of the airport as Sky Sports interviews them weeping with nerves?

Not to mention how much it must have cost those fans to fly out there and support their team.

They have every right to be in a confident, bullish mood and be proud of their team; there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a bit of confidence in your side bringing home the goods.

Tottenham fans believed that they could beat the all-conquering Manchester City when the two teams were drawn against each other in the quarter-finals, and so they did.

Was Roberts slamming them for showing a bit of faith in their team then? We highly doubt it.

The Spurs legend would probably have been better served just tweeting the last part of his tweet – the bit all in caps – as the first section of it is absolute nonsense.
