'Hope it's a bad joke', 'I'm livid' - Chelsea fans fume at prospect of major deadline day signing

As reported by The Guardian, Chelsea are lining up a deadline day move for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in a deal that could be worth as much as £17.5m.

While there’s still plenty of time for the deal to fall through, it seems increasingly likely that the Frenchman will be making the short move across London after more than 250 appearances for the Gunners.

By scoring over 100 goals during his time under Arsene Wenger, Giroud has proven himself to be an excellent Premier League goalscorer, also possessing the uncanny ability to have an effect on matches from the bench.

With Chelsea seeking back-up for star man Alvaro Morata, signing the 31-year-old could be an inspired bit of business.

However, it seems not all Blues supporters are happy with the prospect of signing the forward, many believing he is below the level of quality they need and some even suggesting they should hijack Arsenal’s reported move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…
