"Injury merchant", "Bailly 2.0" - These Man Utd fans hate links to 25 y/o ace

After a dismal campaign saw that them ship 54 goals in the Premier League, Manchester United are rather understandably searching far and wide for some defensive reinforcements.

The club have been linked with a big-money for Leicester centre-back Harry Maguire but reports have suggested that the two clubs still remain apart on their respective valuations of the defender.

Now, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, United have enquired about Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti who has found himself out-of-favour at the Camp Nou due to a mixture of injury problems and the emergence of fellow Frenchman Clement Lenglet.

After hearing about the links to their latest transfer target, fans of the Manchester side took to Twitter to voice their opinion and many were a little wary about signing the 25-year-old.

They felt the France international’s questionable record with injuries was something the side could do without considering the club already has Eric Bailly on their books.

Some felt Umtiti – valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt – was even “over-rated” and felt there were far better options out there that United could pursue like Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly or Benfica’s Ruben Dias.
