Time for change: 55% of polled Spurs fans want experienced campaigner axed by Pochettino

According to the results of a recent Football FanCast poll, a slight majority of Tottenham fans want Paulo Gazzaniga to oust Hugo Lloris as the club’s number one goalkeeper.

Lloris captained France to World Cup glory in Russia during the summer, but back in the Premier League things haven’t been quite as sweet for the 32-year-old.

His high-profile mistakes have cost the club on a number of occasions and against Wolves on Saturday he could have done better with both Willy Boly’s equalising header and Raul Jimenez’s tame low finish.

If Spurs are to challenge for silverware this year or in the future though, Mauricio Pochettino will need to make the right call. In our poll, 55 per cent of Tottenham fans said that Argentine stopper Gazzaniga should now be first choice.

The 26-year-old has blossomed into a fantastic keeper since his surprise move from Pochettino’s former club Southampton in the summer of 2017, something he proved in the recent Carabao Cup win over North London rivals Arsenal.
