Bargain goalscorer: 59% of polled Southampton fans would back move for former Watford hitman

According to the results of a recent Football FanCast poll, a slight majority of Southampton fans would support a January move for former Watford striker Odion Ighalo.

Saints have looked a hugely improved team in the short time that new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has been in charge, but the Austrian will hope to be backed in the winter transfer window in order to steer the club clear of relegation.

One area he will surely need to address is up front. Liverpool loanee Danny Ings looks perfect for the new high-pressing philosophy, but Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini have both struggled all season and things don’t look like they are getting any better for the pair.

Ighalo then could be a perfect buy to partner Ings. The Nigerian international recently told the BBC that he did not plan on playing in the Chinese second division, despite his side Changchun Yatai being relegated from the Chinese Super League.

The now 29-year-old was prolific during his time at Watford and he could be somewhat of a bargain January signing for the South Coast club. Check out the full results of our poll below.
