"Klopp playing mind games" - These Liverpool fans are freaking out over pre-Chelsea update
Virgil van Dijk is a major doubt for Liverpool’s trip to Chelsea, but the centre back’s social media activity seems to suggest he will play.
Van Dijk was withdrawn from last weekend’s clash against Southampton with a rib injury, and at the time it was not believed to be serious.
Fans were fearing the worst on Friday though, as Jürgen Klopp’s press conference revealed the Dutchman had not yet trained since the injury.
“We have to wait, he didn’t train with the team so far,” Klopp said.
The 27 year-old has made an unbelievable difference to the Reds’ defence since arriving in January, and not having him available on Saturday would be a huge loss.
Klopp’s side looked nervous defensively in this week’s Carabao Cup defeat, as van Dijk is the leader that holds everything together.
The Dutch captain has formed a colossal partnership with Joe Gomez, but fans are now fancying their chances after he posted his excitement for the Chelsea game on Instagram.

Risk him? He’s got a bruised rib, nothing major. Bit of ibuprofen and he’ll be fine. Rest him against Napoli and then play him against City and then let him miss international duty. I’m sure he’ll be able to cope with that.
