Newcastle United’s wait for their first win of the season continues.

The Magpies were knocked out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest, 13th in the Championship, beat Newcastle 3-1.

It’s the second year in a row Nottingham Forest have beaten Newcastle in the League Cup.

Former Newcastle striker Daryl Murphy headed Forest into a 2nd minute lead. However the match sprung to life in the final minutes of the game.

Jose Salomon Rondon equalised for Newcastle in the 90th minute. Yet Forest still had time for both Matty Cash and Gil Dias to score in injury time.

Gil Dias cost one punter £29k vs Newcastle

A betting slip is doing the rounds on social media following Wednesday EFL Cup action.

One unfortunate punter lost out on a staggering £29,000 windfall from a one pound bet.

Had Gil Dias not scored a third for Nottingham Forest, the amazing acca bet would have come off.
