Marko Arnautovic update & West Ham’s three key injury problems before Newcastle

Man City 1 – West Ham 0

A Sergio Aguero penalty was enough for Man City to beat West Ham in the Premier League on Wednesday.

The result left Man City a point behind Liverpool at the top of the table.

As for West Ham, the Irons are tenth in the standings while their form is rather disappointing.

West Ham only have one win in their last seven matches.

West Ham vs Newcastle

West Ham are back in league action on Saturday when Newcastle visit the London Stadium.

Newcastle will come into the match full of confidence following successive 2-0 wins against Huddersfield and Burnley.

Rafa Benitez has steered the Magpies away from danger. They are 13th in the standings.

Marko Arnautovic update

Will Marko Arnautovic be fit for West Ham against Newcastle?

The Austrian forward was a surprise absentee against Man City in midweek.

Indeed, Andy Carroll was handed a rare start for the Irons against the Sky Blues.

Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that Arnautovic missed the game through illness.

The assumption is that Arnautovic will be available for the Newcastle game.

West Ham’s three key injury problems

Yet West Ham have suffered three injury blows at the back before Newcastle.

Ryan Fredericks and Benjamin Johnson started in the full-back slots against City.

That’s because the Hammers have problems with Aaron Cresswell, Pablo Zabaleta and Arthur Masuaku.

Pellegrini told the press the following after Man City:

It was a big risk. (Aaron) Cresswell broke his toe, Arthur Masuaku is injured, Zabaleta coming back from a pain in his back too.

Unfortunately it was his first game here against a good team but he didn’t do so bad at all. I changed him not for his performance but he had a calf problem.
