"Great addition" - West Ham fans in high spirits over "wonderful" defender

West Ham fans have been reacting to reports that the Hammers are set to grab their first summer signing – Barcelona centre back Marlon Santos.

With new managers moving in several directions around the league, this summer is bound to be one of the busiest transfer windows in Premier League history.

West Ham fans in particular are absolutely desperate for some signings, as the Hammers look to match the ambition shown by bringing in a top coach in Manuel Pellegrini.

According to various reports, the Hammers are nearing a £13m deal with Barcelona over the transfer of young centre back Marlon Santos.

The 22 year-old has been on loan with French side Nice this season, who are also interested in brining the youngster back to France.

Santos is rather small for a centre back, particularly in England, but the young Brazilian is fantastic with the ball at his feet, boasting an incredible 95 per cent pass success rate this season with Nice.

This sort of technical ability at the back is necessary for Pellegrini’s style, so it is no surprise to see the Chilean veteran pursuing a defender of this ilk.
