Chairman's ambitions could scupper Tottenham's desire to sign £22.5m-rated talent

As reported by The Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur fear their ambition to sign Ryan Sessegnon in the future could be scuppered by billionaire Shahid Khan’s desire to bring an NFL franchise to Wembley Stadium.

Tottenham are scheduled to bring American football matches to their new stadium when it opens and The Standard reports that Daniel Levy is keen on bringing a permanent London NFL team to the ground.

However, the paper say that Shahid Khan, who owns NFL side Jacksonville Jaguars as well as Fulham, wants to do exactly the same, but at Wembley Stadium.

Why is this relevant to Tottenham fans? Well, Spurs now fear that this clash could mean they are ruled out of signing Ryan Sessegnon in the future, according to the report.

Now that Fulham have been promoted to the Premier League, there’s every chance that Sessegnon stays at the club for another season anyway, with the chances of him moving this summer looking increasingly slim.

However, Tottenham need to ensure they are in the race to sign him down the line when he does become available. His potential is huge. At the age of 17 and 18, he has become Fulham’s main man, inspiring their promotion to the top-flight.

He scored 16 times and assisted eight more last season.

Spurs need young talent like this to come to the club and develop into world class players if they’re to compete for silverware since they can’t outspend the other top six sides for established stars. They should be doing everything they can to ensure Sessegnon’s next destination is Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
