"Everywhere", "Immense", "10/10" - Loads of Saints fans drool over "criminally underrated" ace

After a hard-fought contest in which Southampton went down to ten men against Manchester United, a draw certainly feels like a huge result for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side. The Saints fought back to equalise in the second-half, and but for Kevin Danso’s sending off turning the game on its head, may have fancied themselves to go on and win it. But whilst the home side couldn’t quite manage all three points, one man who caught the eye in the middle of the park was Oriol Romeu. The Spaniard was a powerhouse in central midfield, making a team-high six tackles and registering two interceptions and one clearance. Watch Southampton Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below After seeing the 27-year-old stand up to the physical contest against United, Southampton fans took to Twitter to marvel at their midfield machine. Many supporters of the south coast side hailed the former Chelsea ace as a “beast” and thought he produced a performance that would have silenced any doubters. Some fans e

What we know about Aymeric Laporte’s injury after Man City 4 – Brighton 0

Image
Man City 4 – Brighton 0 For just the second time this Premier League season, Man City kept a clean sheet on Saturday. The reigning champs eased to a 4-0 win at home against Brighton. Sergio Aguero scored twice, Kevin De Bruyne opened, and Bernardo Silva scored 10 seconds after coming off the bench in the second-half. Aymeric Laporte’s injury vs Adam Webster However, Man City’s win was undercut by a bad injury to centre-back Aymeric Laporte. Many consider Laporte to be the best defender on Pep Guardiola’s roster. Against Brighton, though, Laporte only lasted 37 minutes before he was stretchered out the game. Laporte’s knee appeared to buckle in a challenge with Brighton’s Adam Webster. Fernandinho replaced the French defender. "Unreal", "Different gravy" - Lots of Irons fans praise "best player outside the top 6"

Having joined West Ham last summer for a reported £36m from Italian side Lazio, Felipe Anderson showed more than enough signs that he could develop into a truly top-class signing for the Hammers. The Brazil international fired in ten goals in 40 games across all competitions in his debut campaign for the team, and has started this season well too. Despite not getting on the score-sheet against Norwich at the London Stadium on Saturday, Anderson delivered a virtuoso performance for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. The 26-year-old registered three shots and three key passes in the 87 minutes he was in the game, and had a joint game-high six successful dribbles too. Watch West Ham United Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below After seeing the Brazilian’s fine display, West Ham fans flooded to Twitter to hail the former Lazio star. Many Hammers supporters thought he completely terrorised the Norwich defence, with one fan suggesting he had “scared the living daylights” out of the Ca

"Obsessed with being negative" - Some Spurs fans are fuming at exit rumours

Tottenham Hotspur fans have rubbished claims from talkSPORT that Mauricio Pochettino could walk away after this weekend’s north London derby against Arsenal. Adrian Durham claimed on Thursday that he had heard “rumours” suggesting that Pochettino could manage Tottenham for the last time this weekend, regardless of the result. And fans were quick to disparage the remarks on Twitter. Indeed, Pochettino signed a new five-year contract in 2018 that is reported to be worth £8.5m-per-year. If he were to resign this season, he would be walking away from over £40m. Watch Tottenham Hotspur Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below Not only that, but the Argentine guided Spurs to their first-ever Champions League final last season and then oversaw a transfer spend that included the club-record acquisition of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, as well as the loan of Giovani Lo Celso and the purchases of young prospects Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Clarke. Take a look at the best of the indignant

"Very pleased with this" - Some Charlton fans react as offer reportedly set to be tabled

Some Charlton fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was reported by The South London Press that Adam Matthews looks set to be handed a one-year contract by the Addicks. Matthews, formerly of Celtic and Sunderland, had been training with the south Londoners as they looked to add another option to the right side of their defence following the £2m sale of Anfernee Dijksteel to Middlesbrough in the summer window. The aforementioned report states that this will be Charlton’s last signing until the winter window opens. Addicks boss Lee Bowyer also had a look at Tyrone Mears, but has seemingly decided to hand the 27-year-old a one-year deal to provide competition to Chris Solly and Deji Oshilaja. Matthews was released by Sunderland after the 2018/19 campaign came to an end, in which the Black Cats missed out on promotion having lost the League One playoff final to Charlton – he made 67 appearances for the Wearsiders. Let’s see how the Charlton fans on Twitter reacted to t

Saints star has been left behind by glittering alumni and now faces ultimate price - opinion

Image
This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles… It’s no secret that Southampton have had many a good player cherry picked from their squad over the years. The Saints have lost the likes of Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne, Luke Shaw, Calum Chambers, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Morgan Schneiderlin, Victor Wanyama, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane to top six sides in recent years, but there was one man who never managed to get his big move away despite numerous links – Ryan Bertrand. The left-back, now 30, was arguably amongst the best Premier League players in his position a few seasons ago and was consequently linked with headline transfers to clubs such as Manchester City , Liverpool and Chelsea , Tottenham and Manchester United . For whatever reason, the England international never got his big move away from the South Coast

No Cooper, no problem: Bielsa tweak shows how Leeds can thrive in captain's absence - opinion

Image
Gaetano Berardi is a puzzling footballer and to suggest he can completely replace Liam Cooper would be overstepping the mark. The Swiss defender has picked up six red cards during his time with Leeds in what can only be described as a hideous disciplinary record but last weekend against Stoke he was up to the challenge. For obvious reasons, Berardi is a player who causes unrest and nervousness among Leeds supporters. Before that clash with the Potters, Marcelo Bielsa revealed that Berardi may have to take Cooper’s place because of injury, a piece of news which left the Elland Road faithful concerned . A knock to the ankle was Cooper’s downfall , a problem which caused him to sit out the Carabao Cup tie with Stoke as well. He was missed in that outing, but in league action, the Whites managed to deal without him. And they did so in impressive style as Berardi eventually ended up taking plaudits from the Leeds fan base. It was quite a turnaround for a player who, alongside Coo

"It's our year", "Cupcake group" - Lots of Man City fans buzzing after UCL draw

So Manchester City’s incredible luck of the draw (pun intended) continues . Pep Guardiola’s side learned the fate of their Champions League group stage campaign on Thursday night, and it could not have gone much better for the Citizens. City were handed a reunion with Shakhtar from pot two, meaning that they avoided the likes of European heavyweights Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Dinamo Zagreb and Atalanta rounded off the group, and it ultimately bodes well for a smooth transition into the knockout phases for the Manchester side. After seeing the group stage draw , City fans flooded to Twitter to share their disbelief and joy at how things panned out for them. Messi absence a blessing in disguise for Barcelona - opinion

This article is part of Football FanCast’s The Chalkboard series, which provides a tactical insight into teams, players, managers, potential signings and more… Lionel Messi is still very much waiting on his debut in the new 2019/20 La Liga season and if the recent reports are to be believed, he’ll have to wait a bit longer than expected. But, despite that not being the greatest of news for Barcelona, there’s still a silver lining in that story. On the chalkboard Of course, when Messi is injured, alarms are sure to be ringing in the Catalan capital. Barcelona depending on their little Argentine wizard is not really anything particularly new. The term “ Messidependencia ” is very much still a thing back in Spain and it basically supports the thesis that Barcelona are simply a far worse team without their talisman. And when talking about someone of Messi’s pedigree and reputation, it’s difficult to see how any team wouldn’t miss such a huge influence on the pitch – this is, after a

Man United are missing a major trick with Harry Maguire - opinion

Manchester United are ignoring a major attacking weapon. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men may have beaten Chelsea 4-0 on the opening weekend of the season but that was a game that was out of keeping with the statistics and, really, a freak. BBC Sport reported that United had 11 shots on goal at Old Trafford. Chelsea had 18. They followed that up, though, with a dour 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers and, in the second half, Solskjaer’s men were outplayed. A Ruben Neves stunner from range earned Nuno Espirito Santo’s impressive side a point but it felt on the day as though United had missed a trick. The following weekend, Crystal Palace delivered the type of reality-checking sucker punch that serves to expose fragility and deeply-entrenched problems. One of those problems lies within the defensive unit but the decision to lavish a world-record fee on Harry Maguire will not resolve that overnight. But is there another characteristic to Maguire – a centre-back who is a genuine mena

"Did spectacularly well" - Paul Elliott delivers verdict on former Chelsea man

Former Chelsea player Paul Elliott has said that he thinks Maurizio Sarri did “spectacularly well” at Stamford Bridge last season. What did he say? The former Napoli boss joined the Blues last summer, and took the the south-west London outfit to third in the Premier League whilst also winning the Europa League in the process. However, his spell at the club was marred by numerous fractures with both the players and the fans, and it was therefore no surprise to see him move to Juventus earlier this summer. Elliott clearly appreciates what the 60-year-old did at Chelsea, and told football.london : “If the real footballing people look at what he did at Chelsea, they’ll realise this man did spectacularly well in his first season at Chelsea given all the challenges he had, particularly the ones he had with the players.” If Frank Lampard fails, would Chelsea fans welcome Jose Mourinho back for a third time? Find out in the video below… About more than just results If we take it

Tyrone Mings reveals the extent of his surprise after earning England call-up

It’s done: Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings has realised his international dream. What a turn of events for the lad. Not too long ago, he was struggling to break into Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side following a spate of serious injuries , and now he’s set to appear on one of the grandest stages of them all in a bid to earn himself a spot in England’s Euro 2020 squad. Honestly, you love to see it. Watch Aston Villa Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below Like the majority of us, Mings was probably soaking up the sun in a beer garden as he watched his friends battle it out in Russia in a bid to bring home the trophy that has eluded the nation since 1966. We reckon it was one of those pinch-me moments getting the nod from Gareth Southgate to play alongside some of the most talented players the country has to offer, and it

Michael Chopra believes a certain Leicester man can go on and create history

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Pundit View series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent quotes from journalists, pundits, players and managers… Former Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra believes Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury can make history by becoming the first-ever British-Asian to play for the England senior side. What’s he said? The young midfielder made his Foxes Premier League debut under Claude Puel in November 2017 and has only featured in short spells ever since – not playing more than nine times in any one season. That looks as if it is changing as Brendan Rodgers clearly sees a spot for him amongst the first-team – the 21-year-old has started all three league matches as well as their Carabao Cup game against Newcastle in midweek, per Transfermarkt . Choudhury has a mixed background of Bangladeshi and Caribbean heritage but has appeared seven times for England’s Under-21 squad in the past year, including at this summer’s European Under-21

"I do not believe my eyes" - Loads of Man City fans react to unexpected boost for 25 y/o

Manchester City fans rejoice! Aymeric Laporte may finally be set to earn his first senior cap for France. And about time too. The 25-year-old has failed to make a Les Bleus squad since making the bench for the side’s 2-0 defeat to Spain back in March 2017. Now, this personal boost for the City ace is quite unexpected, as the centre-back even suggested the previous lack of international recognition could be put down to a personal vendetta against him from France manager Didier Deschamps. Speaking back in December, he said, as quoted by The Manchester Evening News : “Of course I don’t think it’s because of a sporting issue, you’d have to ask him personally. I don’t have anything personal against him, but if someone has a problem it’s him and not me. “I could be a world champion… but these are the decisions of the coach, who is not calling me for, I think, personal reasons, and I have to respect him.” Watch Manchester City Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below After hearing t

"Announce elimination", "Watch us lose" - Lots of Man Utd fans in meltdown after cup draw

After some shocks in the second round of the Carabao Cup this week, it’s time for the Premier League’s big hitters to enter the fray. Most of the top-six were handed ‘winnable fixtures’, and Manchester United in particular will surely be licking their lips at facing League One outfit Rochdale at home. The Red Devils’ most recent memory of the competition is certainly a forgettable one though, exiting the third round on penalties last season against Frank Lampard’s Derby County at Old Trafford. After hearing about their side’s draw for this year’s Carabao Cup, United fans took to Twitter and it seemed like many are still suffering from the scars of the previous campaign. Many supporters of the Manchester side felt they would be in for another “embarrassing evening” and backed the away side to pull off a major shock. Indeed, some Red Devils fans even went so far as congratulating Rochdale on progressing to the fourth round without the game even being played yet. Check out some o

"Where we want to be": Blues would be better off without despite Lampard's endorsement - opinion

Frank Lampard has said that the Champions League is where the Blues “want to be” and he is “looking forward” to managing in it. What did he say? After a disappointing 2017/18 season during which they finished in fifth-place , Chelsea did not play Champions League football for the second time in three years last term. However, under Maurizio Sarri, they ended the past campaign in third and also won the Europa League . Lampard has since replaced the former Napoli manager, and he is looking forward to testing himself in Europe’s biggest club competition. Speaking ahead of the group stage draw on Thursday he said : “It is the greatest club competition in football and I was lucky enough to win it once. I’m looking forward to working in it as a manager. It’s important for us, it’s where we want to be. It gets tougher every year, coming third [in the Premier League] last season and winning the Europa League gets [the players] that status.” If Frank Lampard fails, would Chelsea fan
