Opinion: Liverpool would dominate English football if they land Juventus star who has won it all

Liverpool should try to sign Sami Khedira either in January or next summer after reports from  Ilbianconero.com  claim that Juventus have refused the midfielder a move to Paris Saint-Germain. What’s the word? The German World Cup winner is an experienced midfielder having played at the top level for the majority of his career. Khedira has had spells at Stuttgart, Real Madrid and Juventus, where he has been since 2015. The 31-year-old’s contract in Turin will expire at the end of the season, though, meaning that he will be eligible to join any club on a free transfer next summer. According to  Ilbianconero.com , the Italian giants are refusing to sell Khedira before Friday’s transfer deadline. If the midfielder stays put then it will be up to him whether he commits his future to Juventus or seeks pastures new. Why should Liverpool be interested? On paper, the midfield is not an area that the Reds need significant strengthening in, particularly after their recent transfer activi

Former Teammate Claims Liverpool Star Joe Gomez Snubbed Manchester City Interest Before Joining Reds

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez seemingly spurned interest to join Manchester City, before joining the Merseyside club back in 2015, according to a former teammate. After previous seasons plagued by injury, 21-year-old Gomez made 31 appearances for the Reds in 2017/18 and even earned his first senior England caps. His rise to become one of Jurgen Klopp's first team stars has been an impressive one, but may never have happened had he acted on interest from Man City back when he was at Charlton... from All the latest breaking football news, transfer rumours, analysis, and match reports - 90min https://ift.tt/2MF4ai0 via IFTTT

Arsenal Youngster Set for First Team Role After Unai Emery 'Personally Vetoes' Loan Plans

Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe is seemingly set for a role in the Gunners first team this season after manager Unai Emery is said to have 'personally vetoed' plans to send the promising home grown teenager out on loan like fellow talent Reiss Nelson. While Nelson will spend the rest of 2018/19 with Hoffenheim in Germany, the Daily Mail has reported that Smith Rowe will be staying in north London because Emery has made it clear to club officials that he want the 18-year-old available to... from All the latest breaking football news, transfer rumours, analysis, and match reports - 90min https://ift.tt/2PptkOH via IFTTT

Burnley Manager Sean Dyche Insists His Side Will 'Learn' from Europa League Exit

Burnley manager Sean Dyche claims that his side will learn a valuable lesson from their brief European adventure after a 1-1 draw against Olympiacos on Thursday saw their journey come to an abrupt end. The Clarets dominated the game for the majority of proceedings but failed to make the breakthrough and overturn the two-goal deficit from the first leg. £9m-rated star was easily Wolves' best signing of the summer - agree?

Wolves stormed the Championship last season, racking up 99 points as boss Nuno Espirito Santo led them to the title and promotion to the Premier League. The Portuguese boss was then heavily backed in the summer transfer window by Chinese owners Fosun International and with the help of super agent Jorge Mendes, the West Midlands club made some headline signings that some of the Premier League’s top teams would have been proud of. Santo ended up making 10 signings during the summer and broke the club’s transfer budget for the second time in as many years with the £18m capture of the pacy winger Adama Traore, who many consider to still be a raw talent. Wolves recruited from some of the top European clubs this summer and brought in Ruben Vinagre and Portuguese international Joao Moutinho, rated at £9m by Transfermarkt , from Monaco, Rui Patricio from Sporting Lisbon and Raul Jiminez on loan from Benfica. Perhaps the most important deals for the club though came in the confirmation tha

"Buzzing", "It's our year" - Loads of Liverpool fans react to major update

Loads of Liverpool fans have been giving their thoughts on the Champions League draw, and they’re loving their “group of death”. Liverpool got an absolutely brutal Champions League group on Thursday, as the Reds will face PSG, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade in this season’s competition. The Reds were placed in pot three, meaning it was always likely that they would get a tough group, and that’s exactly how it played out. Of course, Jürgen Klopp’s side often play better against quality, attacking teams who leave more spaces at the back, so fans are relishing the prospect of facing PSG and Napoli. The French champions in particular could be quite the game, as both teams broke the record for group stage goals last season. Tottenham also got a very tricky draw, as the North Londoners will face Barcelona, PSV and Inter Milan. Loads of Liverpool fans have been discussing the news, and the overwhelming feeling is clearly one of immense optimism. You can find some of the best Twitter reac

Opinion: 22-year-old Leeds target would finally unlock his high potential under Marcelo Bielsa

Leeds United remain keen on former Newcastle United talent Yasin Ben El-Mhanni, according to  Goal. What’s the word? After two seasons with Newcastle United, El-Mhanni is a free agent in the market after being released by the Magpies earlier this summer and the 22-year-old now faces a race against time to find a new club. Football League clubs have until Friday to sign unattached players and Leeds have been named amongst a number of clubs who are expressing interest in El-Mhanni,  Goal  states , although Brentford are currently the leading side to land his services. El-Mhanni is currently on-trial with high-flying Championship side Brentford and featured for the Bees in a friendly victory over Bournemouth on Tuesday, with the young talent remaining hopeful of earning a deal at Griffin Park. Further competition in the market for El-Mhanni’s signature is said to come from Eredivisie side Heerenveen and French duo Amiens and Saint-Etienne. Worth a punt? Once widely regarded as one

Armstrong replacement: 73% of Celtic fans polled want to sign prolific 24-year-old attacker

TEAMtalk recently reported that Wigan forward Nick Powell is a target for Celtic as well as a host of other Championship clubs, and a large majority of Bhoys fans wanted to see him sign for Brendan Rodgers’ side. The 24-year-old former Manchester United man has been on fire at the start of the season for the Latics, scoring three goals and providing four assists in just five Championship games from an attacking midfield role. According to TEAMtalk, this has alerted Middlesbrough, Stoke, West Brom and Leeds as well as Celtic and there is set to be a race for his signature before the deadline closes. The former England U21 international could be the perfect replacement for Stuart Armstrong, who joined Southampton from the Parkhead side for  £7m  this summer. The Celtic fans who voted in our poll were clearly keen for Rodgers to make a move for Powell, with 73 per cent in favour of him signing. Sign him Jos: 60% of Sheffield Wednesday fans polled yearn to get 19-year-old Prem man on loan

According to Marca , Spanish side Eibar are keen to sign West Ham youngster Reece Oxford on loan, but 60 per cent of Sheffield Wednesday fans polled wanted Jos Luhukay to bring the 19-year-old to Hillsborough. The Owls’ boss wasn’t able to make any permanent additions this summer as the club were placed under a transfer embargo by the English Football League for failing to adhere to Financial Fair Play guidelines. However, the ban was lifted with the loan window still open so it is still possible for Luhukay to add to his squad. Wednesday are currently sitting in 14th in the Championship having won their last two league games against Ipswich and Millwall after a poor early start to the season. Oxford’s versatility and ability to play either at centre-back or in central midfield makes him an attractive prospect and Marca report that he is likely to come with a £1.8m loan fee. The majority of Wednesday fans were clearly keen though. Check out the full results of our poll  below.

'Let's go' ... Lots of Liverpool fans excited for big weekend fixture involving one of their own

Steven Gerrard has cemented himself as a Liverpool legend due to his 17 years of service. The retired midfielder never won a Premier League trophy with the Reds, but he did guide them to the Champions League crown in 2005, upsetting the odds along the way. Gerrard also won the FA Cup twice, the League Cup three times, as well as the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup. Now, the Liverpool-born star is embarking on a new career in management. The 38-year-old’s first foray into his new role began in June when he officially took over as Rangers boss. Gerrard gained coaching experience prior to that by working for Liverpool’s academy, but his first test has been in Scotland. So far so good for the ex-England international as he is 12 games unbeaten heading into Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash against Celtic at Parkhead. Understandably, some Liverpool fans have taken an interest in the first Old Firm derby of the season, particularly as Gerrard will be going head to head with his former

Opinion: Emery has first chance to prove he is the capable Wenger successor Arsenal appointed

According to Le 10 Sport , Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette is considering his future with the club as the summer transfer window approaches its closure. What’s the story? The Frenchman was a then club-record acquisition for the Gunners one year ago, when he joined from Lyon for a fee of around £46 million. After a bright start to life in the Premier League though, the 27-year-old’s form wavered and he succumbed to injury. In January, Arsenal smashed their transfer record once again to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Emirates Stadium.   Lacazette and the Gabonese striker are now locked in a battle for the right to lead the line under Unai Emery, and so far at least, having started the first three games of the new season, Aubameyang is winning. It may therefore be of little surprise that Lacazette, whose lack of involvement towards the end of last season potentially cost him a place in France’s World Cup winning squad, is considering his options. Arsenal, though, would be

'Be a big blow to Fosun's ambitions' - These Wolves fans react to worrying report

According to Goal , both Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in moving for Wolves’ exciting young midfielder, Ruben Neves, in the near future. The 21-year-old has made a bright start to life in the Premier League and has already notched his first goal in the English top flight. Against reigning champions Manchester City last time out, Neves put in a mature performance in the middle of the park to help guide his side to a hard-fought draw at Molineux. The Wolves faithful, and boss Nuno Espirito Santo, would certainly be loathe to lose the Portuguese international, but it’s no surprise that the youngster’s form has caught the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs. The reported interest of both Manchester clubs has plenty of Wolves fans nervous that they could be set to lose Neves even sooner than expected though. In light of this most recent report, many of the Midlands clubs’ supporters took to Twitter to voice their concerns over Neves’ future… Man U and Man

'Klopp always get his man' ... These Liverpool fans confident of major January transfer deal

Nabil Fekir dominated Liverpool’s transfer window, and the Lyon playmaker is still the topic of conversation on Twitter. The Merseyside outfit were widely expected to add the Frenchman to Jurgen Klopp’s squad. However, in the final hour, the deal collapsed due to the Reds’ concerns over a previous knee injury. In the end, Fekir, who has scored 57 goals for his club, did not leave the Ligue 1 outfit, but that has not stopped some Liverpool fans from speculating. Many of the Reds’ following wanted the midfielder to become part of Klopp’s revolution at Anfield. It was suggested numerous times on social media that Fekir would be the ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who left Liverpool to join Barcelona in January. It is unclear whether Liverpool will revive their interest in Fekir when the transfer window reopens in January, but a recent photoshoot has got some supporters convinced. Lyon recently posted a video of Fekir filming some shots for the Ligue 1 season ahead, and he

Opinion: Sunderland need to sign exciting 18-year-old Southampton centre-back after Ozturk woes

Sunderland looked to be sorted at centre-back following the additions of Glenn Loovens, Jack Baldwin and Alim Ozturk during the summer, but they must make a move for exciting 18-year-old Southampton centre-back Christoph Klarer before Friday’s deadline. What’s the word, then? Well, Black Cats boss added the trio to his squad during the summer to boost his central defensive options, but with Ozturk so far failing to impress and the 34-year-old Loovens already suffering an injury setback , another option may well be needed. In what is sure to be a tough League One campaign as the Wearside outfit search for an immediate return to the Championship, they will need a squad that can support them the whole way. Meanwhile, Southampton have plenty of senior centre-back options themselves, but the 18-year-old Klarer has been promoted to and is shining for the U23 side this term despite his tender years. Why should Sunderland sign him? The teenager is impressive and while he seemingly won’t

"Staggering", "Starting to lose his way" - These Newcastle fans in disbelief at crowd favourite

Loads of Newcastle fans have been giving their verdict on Wednesday’s defeat at Nottingham Forest, and they’re really not happy with Rafael Benitez’s post-match comments. Newcastle fell to a 3-1 defeat in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, and most fans would agree it was a pretty woeful performance. Ayoze Perez was unlucky not to get a penalty late on for a challenge from Forest goalkeeper Luke Steele, but the Magpies were outfought and outclassed for most of the match, barely threatening the Forest goal. Benitez has a special relationship with the fans on Tyneside, but they’re really not impressed by his post-match verdict. “I don’t agree that Forest were the better team and I’m not concerned by how we played,” Benitez said (22:11) . “We did well to control the game after the first minute when we conceded. They were able to play on the counter attack.” Unsurprisingly, fans don’t agree with Rafa’s comments, and the upcoming fixtures don’t get any easier. The Toon Army travel to Manc

'Weird-looking Puncheon' ... These Middlesbrough fans react as Pulis springs big surprise

The young player has come through the academy at Southampton, and so far in his career has made 20 Premier League appearances for the coastal club. McQueen will have a chance t

Opinion: West Ham need to sign £15k-a-week star they saw bid rejected for this summer in January

West Ham United should jump back into the market for Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles following reports from the  Daily Mail  of a training ground bust-up. What’s the word? Manuel Pellegrini made nine signings in the summer after being appointed the new West Ham manager. Two of his new arrivals – Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop – were recruited to improve the defence. However, three games in the Premier League season and the East London outfit are still having problems at the back. Over in the North-East of England, there are rumblings of discontent surrounding one of Newcastle United’s key defenders. Lascelles, who reportedly earns £15,000-a-week at St James’ Park, was left out of Rafael Benitez’s squad against Chelsea due to injury, but according to the  Daily Mail , the 24-year-old has had an issue with the manager’s tactics. It is also believed that the centre-back had a training-ground bust-up with teammate Matt Ritchie, who took an issue with Lascelles’ criticism

Opinion: Bielsa must win race to sign Premier League man to ensure Leeds don't slip away again

Leeds United are fighting Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday for the services of Wolves captain Danny Batth, according to  The Mirror  (live blog 30/08, 03:57) . What’s the word? Marcelo Bielsa has enjoyed a superb start to life in English football with Leeds United, with the Peacocks establishing themselves as the early pacesetters in the hunt for promotion to the Premier League after four wins and a draw in their opening five matches. Leeds are not resting on their laurels though and are seeking further additions before the loan window shuts on Friday, with  The Mirror  (live blog 30/08, 03:57) stating Bielsa’s side are battling it out with Sheffield Wednesday for the services of Wolves captain Danny Batth. 27-year-old Batth has fallen to fifth-choice in the club’s pecking order behind summer signing Leander Dendoncker, Conor Coady, Willy Boly, Ryan Bennett and Kortney Hause, finding himself surplus to requirements. Worth a move? Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side have been exce

Underwhelming: Just 55% of Forest fans polled want Karanka to sign likely Brereton replacement

The Nottingham Post recently reported that Middlesbrough striker Rudy Gestede was on the potential shortlist to replace Ben Brereton at Nottingham Forest after the youngster joined Blackburn this week. Forest boss Aitor Karanka has been busy already this summer, bringing in 13 players at a cost of over £20m, but the Nottingham Post reports that the club are looking to bring in another striker after Brereton left in a deal that could be worth up to £7m according to the BBC . Just 55% of Forest fans who voted in our poll wanted the club to sign Gestede though. The 6ft 4in striker joined Boro from Aston Villa in January 2017 but has only netted six goals in 41 appearances for Tony Pulis’ side. Valued at £5.4m by Transfermarkt , there are many more prolific options out there than the Benin international if Karanka is to bring in a new face before the loan window closes. Check out the full results from our poll below. from FootballFanCast.com https://ift.tt/2LK1hXU

Opinion: Newcastle will solve massive left-back issue with deal for Championship ace in January

Newcastle United should consider a move for West Bromwich Albion left-back Kieran Gibbs when the transfer window opens again in January. What’s the word? Rafael Benitez recruited five new players during the summer market, but the left-back area was not strengthened. Paul Dummett is first choice in that position, but if the 26-year-old suffered a damaging injury, the Magpies do not have many quality options to choose from. With that in mind, it is worth Benitez considering a move for Gibbs in the winter window. The 28-year-old has spent most of his career playing for Arsenal, but last year he joined West Brom after dropping down the pecking order at the Emirates. What would Gibbs bring? Even though the England international failed to cement a regular place at Arsenal, he spent 10 years developing and learning from the best. Perfecting his craft at one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs carries plenty of weight. Gibbs has experience competing at an elite level, so the offer

'Idiots', 'He loves West Ham' ... These Hammers fans react to decision by club and Pellegrini

West Ham United had a very busy summer as new manager Manuel Pellegrini tried to shape his squad. The former Manchester City boss brought in nine new faces following his appointment as David Moyes’s successor. The Chilean strengthened all areas of the pitch, but the results have been less than desirable. In three Premier League fixtures, the Hammers have lost all of them, including a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth and a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal. Against the Gunners’, West Ham showed glimpses of quality, but there is still plenty of work for them to do in order to find their stride. One man who will be unable to help the club’s effort is Josh Cullen, who on Thursday,  completed a move to Charlton Athletic  on loan. The midfielder has come through the West Ham academy, but is yet to grab hold of a regular first-team spot. The 22-year-old has had loan spells at Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers, and now he returns to League One for another temporary stint. On Tw
