Tottenham cannot pass up cut-price deal for Spanish star
Tottenham Hotspur are one of a handful of Premier League clubs interested in signing Real Madrid attacker Isco, according to The Sun.
What’s the word?
The 25-year-old has been at the Bernabeu since a 2013 move from Malaga, but in recent seasons, his game time has been limited.
With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale at the club, it has been difficult for the Spaniard to hold down a regular place under Zinedine Zidane.
According to The Sun, Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea are all keeping tabs on Isco, and they hope to secure his signature for around £40m.
This season, the midfielder has made 40 appearances, 12 of which have ben substitute appearances, and in that time has netted seven goals and scored as many assists.
Isco certainly caught the attention of numerous fanbases after scoring a hat-trick for Spain in midweek.
Should Tottenham make a move?
Transfer prices seem to be rising year by year, and after Neymar moved to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record fee, it may not be long until top-level footballers are going for around £200m on a regular basis.
If the latest report about Isco is to be believed, then £40m would be an absolute steal for Tottenham, particularly as he will enhance what they already have.
Mauricio Pochettino already has a handful of creative players in his team, but having Isco’s strength and quick passing ability will only improve them.
In addition, the former Malaga star has the ability to play on the left-hand side, more centrally in midfield or behind the striker.
Given that Harry Kane is largely responsible for providing goals at Spurs, perhaps Isco’s arrival would ease the burden.
