Mason Greenwood’s goal celebration vs Brighton explained & Bruno Fernandes on Man United’s Champions League hopes

Image
Brighton 0 – Manchester United 3 What a night for Manchester United! After playing 120 minutes against Norwich last weekend in the FA Cup, some may have expected Man United to be sluggish at Brighton on Tuesday. However, that couldn’t have been further from the truth as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side raced out the blocks at the Amex. It only took 16 minutes before Mason Greenwood drove home United’s opener. Just before the half hour Bruno Fernandes made it 2-0 with a deflected curler from the edge of the Brighton box. The goal of the game was scored 5 minutes after the restart: Nemanja Matic launched a blistering counter-attack with a gorgeous pass to the onrushing Greenwood on the left, Greenwood eventually picked out Bruno at the far post, and the Portuguese capped the move with a sublime volley.   Mason Greenwood’s goal celebration vs Brighton explained After Greenwood scored with his low shot, the youngster displayed an ‘A’ sign during his goal celebration. While the French league season was ended several weeks ago, the French Cup final is still poised to go ahead. St Etienne are due to take on PSG in the Coupe De France showpiece on July 24. However, St Etienne will have to go into that game without Saliba.   St Etienne slam Arsenal after ‘unacceptable sports & financial conditions’ On Tuesday, in his press conference before the Norwich game, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was aksed about Saliba’s situation. At the time of the question, Saliba was still a St Etienne player, as his loan agreement only expired at midnight on June 30. Arteta indicated that he was happy for the teenager to remain in France to play in the final. Arteta said: He has earned his

Why Chelsea & Wolves are more likely to finish in the top 4 than Man United

Image
Which Premier League clubs will qualify for the 2020-21 Champions League? With the end of the 2019-20 Premier League season just a month away, ESPN have cast their eye on which clubs are likely to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Of course, Liverpool are already in it. The 2018-19 Champions League winners have booked their spot in the competition after winning this year’s Premier League title. Will Man City be in it too? Currently no, as the Sky Blues have been hit with a 2-year ban by UEFA. Man City are hoping to overturn that decision as they await the verdict from their appeal in the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Working on the assumption that Man City don’t win their appeal, 5th place in the league will qualify for the Champions League. Cutting to the chase, ESPN believe that Chelsea will finish 3rd, Wolves will finish 4th, while Man United will end up in 5th. So now that Liverpool have the title, what about the race for the Champions League? Bad news for Leic

Mo Salah issues Golden Boot warning to his Leicester & Southampton rivals

Image
Who will win the 2019-20 Premier League Golden Boot? The race for the 2019-20 Premier League Golden Boot is hotting up with just six rounds of the season remaining. Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is the top scorer in the league with 19 goals. However, Vardy’s hopes of winning the Golden Ball were narrowed last weekend after Southampton’s Danny Ings scored twice in a 3-1 win at Watford. Ings is now on 18 Premier League goals. In joint-third place, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Liverpool’s Mo Salah both have 17 Premier League goals. Meanwhile, Man City’s Sergio Aguero is on 16 goals, however the Argentine’s season is over following a knee operation. Further down the list, Liverpool’s Sadio Mane and Wolves’s Raul Jimenez both have 15 goals in the league.   Premier League top goal scorer, disciplinary & assists Premier League 19/20 Topscorers Disciplinary Assists Player Team Goals Vardy, Jamie Leicester City 19 Ings, Danny Southampton FC 1

David Luiz’s ankle problem vs Sheffield United has left Mikel Arteta with 8 injured players before Norwich

Image
Sheffield United 1 – Arsenal 2 Dani Ceballos was the hero for Arsenal in their FA Cup quarterfinal against Sheffield United on Sunday. Nicolas Pepe fired the Gunners into the lead with a clinical penalty in the 25th minute. The Blades levelled the match through David McGoldrick three minutes from time, but in another blow to United since the football returned, they were unable to take the game into extra time. Instead, Ceballos turned home an injury time winner for Arsenal, which has set up an FA Cup semifinal against Man City. Chelsea will take on Man United in the other semi.   David Luiz’s ankle problem vs Sheffield United It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for David Luiz. After his horror show against Man City, Luiz has since agreed a one-year contract extension to remain with the Gunners. However, Luiz now faces a spell on the sidelines after he sustained an ankle injury during Sunday’s FA Cup tie. After the match, manager Mikel Arteta told the press: It was his ankle. He

Watford 1 – Southampton 3 It was a superb Sunday for Southampton in the Premier League as the Saints won 3-1 away at Watford. The win lifted Southampton up to 40 points: a total which they’ve failed to achieve in the last two seasons. Sitting 13 points above the bottom three, Southampton’s Premier League survival now seems assured. Danny Ings was again the hero for Southampton at Vicarage Road. Ings bagged the opener after 16 minutes, while the centre-forward doubled his tally in the 70th minute. A Jan Bednarek own goal gave Watford late hope, but that was snuffed out when James Ward-Prowse scored Southampton’s third with a trademark free-kick.   Leicester’s Jamie Vardy & Golden Boot Jamie Vardy has been sitting on 99 Premier League goals for some time now… Despite his ongoing wait to become a Premier League goalscoring centurion, Vardy remains the top scorer in the league this season with 19 goals. However, Vardy’s hopes of winning the 2019-20 Golden Ball have been nar

James Maddison may miss Everton & what Frank Lampard said to his Chelsea players at halftime vs Leicester

Image
Leicester 0 – Chelsea 1 It’s now three matches without a win for Leicester since the resumption of football in England. On Sunday, Leicester lost their FA Cup quarterfinal at home against Chelsea 1-0. Ross Barkley, who came on at halftime for the Blues, scored the only goal of the goal from a Willian cross just after the hour mark. Chelsea will now face Man United in one FA Cup semifinal, while Arsenal take on Man City in the other.     Why James Maddison may miss Everton After playing 90 minutes in Leicester’s 0-0 draw with Brighton, Foxes midfielder James Maddison was absent from the matchday squad against Chelsea in the FA Cup. Maddison, 23, has scored 6 goals and chipped in with 3 assists in the league this year. Next up for Leicester is an away trip to Everton on Wednesday in the Premier League, following by a home match against Crystal Palace on Saturday. Following the Chelsea defeat, manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed that Maddison is a doubt for the Everton game with

Leicester vs Chelsea Chelsea, after their 2-1 win against Man City which confirmed Liverpool as champs, are back in action on Sunday in the FA Cup. The Blues travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City. In the Premier League, one point separates Leicester in 3rd (55 points) and Chelsea in 4th (54 points).   Christian Pulisic tipped to be as good as Liverpool & Man City’s best In his press conference before the Leicester game, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has sung the praises of American international Christian Pulisic. Pulisic scored a wonderful solo goal against Man City last week. Moreover, the 21-year-old also scored in Chelsea’s win at Burnley the game beforehand. Now, Lampard has raised the expectations around Pulisic, as he’s claimed he can become as influential as Liverpool and Man City’s best players: I think he can be a really big player.
