Dele Alli on why Chelsea rivalry is bigger than the one with Arsenal & Jose Mourinho on playing games without fans

Tottenham’s Dele Alli speaks to Copa90

Copa90 released a video on YouTube this week featuring Tottenham and England midfielder Dele Alli.

This season, 24-year-old Alli has played 22 times in the Premier League for Spurs.

He’s scored 8 goals and chipped in with 3 assists.

Rivalry with Chelsea is bigger than the one with Arsenal

During the 30-minute long video, Alli was asked to weigh up the rivalry against Chelsea and Arsenal. The Tottenham player replied:

I think if you ask the fans they will give you a different answer, but as players – the way things have been going with the league and the games – the rivalry with Chelsea is bigger than the one with Arsenal, because of what they have done to us in recent years.

For fans it’s different, because the North London derby is massive, but as players I think it’s Chelsea.

Chelsea completed a league double against Tottenham in 2019-20.

Back in December, a Willian double lead Chelsea to victory away at Spurs.

Goals from Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso lead Chelsea to a 2-1 win against Spurs at Stamford Bridge in February.

Meanwhile, back in September, the first north London derby of the season finished Arsenal 2 – Tottenham 2.

Jose Mourinho on the return of the Premier League & games without fans

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho has spoken to Sky Sports about when the Premier League should return.

Mourinho urged caution, while also discussing what it means to play without fans:

Football is just part of my world. But we have to be patient, this is a fight that we all have to fight.

If we play the remaining nine matches this season it will be good for every one of us.

It will be good for football, for the Premier League.

If we play football behind closed doors I’d like to think that football is never behind closed doors. With cameras, it means that millions and millions are watching. So if one day we walk into this empty stadium, it will not be empty, not at all.
