Image
Tottenham’s Dele Alli speaks to Copa90 Copa90 released a video on YouTube this week featuring Tottenham and England midfielder Dele Alli. This season, 24-year-old Alli has played 22 times in the Premier League for Spurs. He’s scored 8 goals and chipped in with 3 assists.   Rivalry with Chelsea is bigger than the one with Arsenal During the 30-minute long video, Alli was asked to weigh up the rivalry against Chelsea and Arsenal. The Tottenham player replied: I think if you ask the fans they will give you a different answer, but as players – the way things have been going with the league and the games – the rivalry with Chelsea is bigger than the one with Arsenal, because of what they have done to us in recent years. For fans it’s different, because the North London derby is massive, but as players I think it’s Chelsea. Chelsea completed a league double against Tottenham in 2019-20. Back in December, a Willian double lead Chelsea to victory away at Spurs. Goals from Olivier Gi

FIFA & UEFA medical experts voice opposing opinions on restarting football during the Covid-19 crisis

FIFA vs UEFA Football’s two major governing bodies – FIFA and UEFA – are offering confusing advice on whether football can restart during the Covid-19 crisis. On Wednesday, the Swiss Super League received the green light to return to action on June 8. That’s put Switzerland on the same path as the German Bundesliga. On the other side of the scale, however, the French 2019-20 Ligue 1 and 2 seasons have been shelved after orders from their government. Belgium and Holland have previously confirmed that their domestic seasons are also over.   FIFA’s Michel D’Hooghe: Don’t play football Earlier in the week, FIFA’s medical committee chairman Michel D’Hooghe publicly stated his belief that football should be halted during this Covid-19 crisis. Speaking to Sky Sports on Tuesday, D’Hooghe expressed his view that football – which is a contact sport – cannot resume until social distancing measures are relaxed. D’Hooghe voiced his belief that football could be suspended until September.

2019-20 Swiss Super League set to resume on June 8, however clubs still fear they’ll go bust

2019-20 Swiss Super League is to return on June 8 Another top European league could be back in operation in 39 days. On Wednesday, Switzerland confirmed plans to restart the 2019-20 Swiss Super League season on June 8. The Swiss were one of the first countries in Europe to stop playing football due to the spread of Covid-19. There’s been no football since February 28. At that time, there were only 20 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country.   Training & all matches will be played behind closed doors On Wednesday, the Swiss Federal Council confirmed that the Swiss Super League football is allowed to resume on June 8th behind closed doors provided there is no worsening of the Covid-19 outbreak. Moreover, it’s also been confirmed that matches will continue behind closed doors until August, at the earliest. According to the Johns Hopkins University , Switzerland have record 29,407 Covid-19 positive cases, while there have been 1,716 deaths from the virus. Swiss clubs are s

Project Restart faces ‘rebellion’ but ending 2019-20 Premier League season could see 4 clubs go bust

Project Restart faces ‘rebellion’ Plans to restart the 2019-20 Premier League – better known as ‘Project Restart – are beginning to unravel. Although, that somewhat depends on whether you’re a red-top of broadsheet consumer. Remarkably, some of the tabloid press in the UK appear to have gotten bored with the Covid-19 crisis already. For the record, the UK has 162,350 confirmed coronavirus cases, and 21,678 deaths from the virus. Data from Johns Hopkins University . Yet, the front page of the Star on Wednesday doesn’t even mention the pandemic.
