Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen would walk into Liverpool’s XI – Graeme Souness
Liverpool vs Tottenham
Liverpool versus Tottenham at Anfield is massive.
Not just in the race for the Premier League title, but also in the race for the top four.
After Saturday’s results in the Premier League, both Liverpool and Spurs are under pressure to win.
Man City moved into first place above the Reds following their win at Fulham.
Man United moved level on points with Tottenham following their 2-1 win over Watford at Old Trafford.
Christian Eriksen would walk into Liverpool’s XI
In his weekly column in the Sunday Times, Graeme Souness has turned his focus on Christian Eriksen.
For much of the season Souness has been critical of the quality of Liverpool’s midfield.
The Scot picks up that baton again today, arguing that Christian Eriksen would walk into Jurgen Klopp’s XI.
In fact Souness goes further than that, arguing that Eriksen would improve any club in world football:
In Christian Eriksen, Liverpool come up against a player today who would be perfect for them and improve any team anywhere at the moment.
My definition of greatness is when a player could go anywhere and get in the team and it applies to Eriksen. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus — anybody at this moment in time — would welcome him.
He’s just an all-round top player. There’s no weakness in his game. You might like a touch more aggression, but with the qualities he has you would overlook that.
This season 27-year-old Eriksen has only scored five goals for Spurs in 27 Premier League matches.
However the Dane has also chipped in with 9 assists in the English top flight.
Eriksen has also scored twice in the Champions League. Spurs take on Man City in the quarterfinals.
