Harvey Elliott turned down Real Madrid for Liverpool

This Sunday, the Athletic’s James Pearce has focused in on Liverpool’s teenage midfielder Harvey Elliott.

Harvey Elliott is just 17-years-old, while he’s approaching his one-year anniversary since joining Liverpool from Fulham.

It’s now been revealed that before he agreed to join Liverpool, Elliott turned down the opportunity to sign for Real Madrid.

Why Harvey Elliot doesn’t like Sergio Ramos

James Pearce has confirmed that Harvey Elliott toured Real Madrid’s stadium as Los Blancos tried to court him from Fulham.

Moreover, the English teenager was offered the chance to meet Sergio Ramos during his trip to Madrid.

However, Elliott had no intention of meeting and greeting the Real Madrid captain following his antics in the 2017-18 Champions League final:

Real Madrid rolled out the red carpet for Harvey Elliott.

There was a tour of the Bernabeu and their training ground complex as they sought to convince the youngest player to play in the Premier League to move to the Spanish capital last summer.

When they reached Sergio Ramos’ shirt, hanging up on the wall, Real’s charm offensive included an offer to arrange for the talented teenager to meet their long-serving captain.

“No, it’s OK, thanks,” Elliott replied. “I don’t like him after what he did to Mo Salah.”

Many paid attention when Sergio Ramos touched Salah’s shoulder at the draw for the 2018-19 Champions League.

Moreover, it’s also worth remembering how Ruud Gullit claimed that Salah’s shoulder injury in the Champions League final was the Egyptian’s fault.

Harvey Elliott made his Premier League debut for Liverpool in the final stages of a match against Sheffield United at th estart of January.

However, the teenager’s first appearance for the Reds was on September 25, 2019, when he played against the MK Dons in the Caraboa Cup.
