Club to force Man City fans to pay season tickets debts on Thursday despite Premier League suspension
Man City fans to pay season tickets debts on Thursday
Many Manchester City fans will see a deduction on their bank statements tomorrow.
As confirmed by the Times reporter Paul Hirst, Man City have decided against cancelling direct debit payments from fans for their 2019-20 season tickets.
Of course, it remains to be seen if the 2019-20 Premier League season will be resumed.
Why are Man City collecting these payments?
The Times have provided the following reasons for why Man City have not cancelled the season ticket payments:
City said that the Premier League had decreed that the remaining games of the season had been postponed until April 30, rather than cancelled, but promised that fans would not be adversely affected should the matches be called off or played behind closed doors.
Yet, there’s no doubt that these payments are likely to be impactful for many Man City fans who have been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

One season ticket holder told the Times:
It really is poor decision-making from the club. To say they are carrying on as normal when most of the world has come to a standstill is really bizarre.
Freezing the final payment of season tickets would really help a lot of fans out when I suspect a lot of people are earning a lot less than they were a month ago.
For the club to shift accountability to the wider football authorities suggests they do not care about the fans and what they may be going through.

It’s fair to say that many Man City fans are unhappy with. their club about this payment policy decision.
.@ManCity still taking seasoncard payments in April. It took me a week of chasing them everyday to get this response. Disgraceful behaviour pic.twitter.com/P0oEZAhj0k

Why should I pay £65 in April when the last home game was in mid Feb and the last game was a month ago, it’s not right, especially now I’m not working and have no more money coming in & I know I’m not the only one. March should’ve been the final payment cos that was the last game

Just had to speak to City as they rang me saying if I didn’t pay my season ticket by 5pm today my season ticket would be cancelled. You’re a joke City, ringing me, desperate for payment when there is NO FOOTBALL ON. What am I even paying for? Jokers man

If anyone who has followed me for a while knows of a City fan who is going to really struggle to meet their Season Ticket D/D through sudden lost income, I’m willing to cover the Apr and May payment for one fan. DM me. I’ll send you the cash, you pass it on anonymously. #MCFC
