"Save us the hassle", "Forfeit" - Lots of Southampton fans pessimistic over cup update

Lots of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to react after they discovered that Manchester City await them in the next round of the Carabao Cup, following the 4-0 thrashing of Portsmouth – the supporters in question seem to be in pessimistic mood over the draw, however.

The Saints have earned their passage into this stage of the tournament following a 1-0 win over Fulham and the aforementioned 4-0 win over their bitter south coast rivals, but with the back-to-back Premier League champions now awaiting them, a lot of fans don’t seem to be in the most positive of moods.

City won the competition last year while also winning the FA Cup as well as the league title, and will be a tough side to overcome in the next round, to say the least.

One fan said that the cup run has been “fun while it lasted”, while another suggested forfeiting the game, such is the little faith he has in the Saints overcoming Pep Guardiola’s side.
