Aston Villa reportedly bid for Nice’s Cyprien / Bertrand Traore scores wonder-goal on debut
Midfield reinforcement
It was reported on Saturday morning that Aston Villa are interested in signing Nice midfielder Wylan Cyprien.
Dean Smith’s side have been very active in the forward and defensive areas this season.
Up top, Villa have spent a fair chunk of change on Brentford forward Ollie Watkins and Lyon wide man Bertrand Traore.
Defensively, the Claret and Blue have signed Matty Cash from Nottingham Forest and highly-rated Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez – the latter saved a penalty on his Villa debut.
The midfield has been, so far, lacking in reinforcements. John McGinn’s goal output has diminished with the Scotland international recording just 3 goals last season in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, French target Cyprien scored more than double from a less advanced role. The 25-year-old is a versatile player with potential to play in both forward-thinking and more defensive positions in the midfield.
Aston Villa have made a €17.5m offer to OGC Nice for French midfielder Wylan Cyprien, according to @DahbiaHattabi. Awaiting a response from Les Aiglons.

Villa are hoping to avoid a scrap for survival this season and Cyprien’s addition could certainly aid with that.
Traore cracker
Villa’s initial Ligue 1 signing of the summer Bertrand Traore hit the ground running in the Carabao cup this week.

The Burkino Faso winger joined from Lyon in a £17 million deal. Playing most of the midweek fixture, Traore and Villa cruised past Bristol City with a 3-0 victory.
With Jack Grealish relied on by Smith to be his key man, having further support in goals with Traore should hopefully enable Villa to avoid another relegation battle.
